To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Stegreif will travel through the last years of Stegreif music with five programs and will start in March 2025 with a program that embodies the origins and visions of Stegreif in a unique way: #free∃roica.
#free∃roica is dedicated to revolutions and new beginnings - both historically and musically. Stegreif's founding vision is more evident in #free∃roica than in any other of our projects: Without sheet music, without a conductor and without seating arrangements, the orchestra breaks with the conventions of the classical concert from the very beginning and opens up new perspectives.
#free∃roica is a performative and musical departure, inspired by Beethoven's Eroica - a symbol of Stegreif's revolutionary approach to traditional concepts of classical music. The familiar is deconstructed, recomposed and presented in a surprising light through improvisation. The result is a completely new interpretation of Beethoven's masterpiece: bars are broken up, oversized props set accents and the orchestra's positioning is constantly rethought.
This program makes Beethoven's quest for the unexpected just as tangible as Stegreif's own vision of a musical awakening. #free∃roica is a tribute to the beginnings of Stegreif and at the same time a revolutionary journey through time - from the French Revolution of the 18th century to the present day.
